Andy Factor’s multiple names encapsulate the story of his life. Born in Germany and named Adolf, with Jewish name Abraham Josef, he became Andre when seeking refuge in France. Adrian became Andy when he came to Australia. Andy’s happy childhood in Falkenstein ended when Hitler came to power. The family escaped, first to France then, in 1939, to Australia. A talented artist and musician, Andy managed to pursue his passions through the difficulties of escaping the horrors of Europe and then as a refugee in Melbourne. His heart-warming story, told by his daughters, tells of a rich and passionate life.
